GPS Acceptable Use Policy
In each year's summer parent packet, the Greenwich Public Schools provide parents with the GPS Acceptable Use Policy (AUP) outlining which student behaviors are and are not acceptable regarding technology and the use of the internet for school purposes.
The Library Media Specialist at each school conducts specific lessons with all students so that they are well aware of these expectations.
View the entire GPS AUP.
Internet Safety
The Greenwich Public Schools filter all internet traffic on its network. This filtering mechanism forbids access to sites deemed inappropriate by the District. This mechanism blocks all social media sites at the elementary and secondary levels (some such sites are permitted at GHS). Additionally, the District provides a filtering solution on each device that works even when a student is not connected to a District-provided internet connection (e.g., your home).
In addition the Library Media Specialist and classroom teachers teach students to monitor their own behavior, keep their passwords private, and to be alert for internet dangers.

Netiquette
As soon as they are able to communicate with others using technology, students need to learn the importance of how to act on the internet. GPS is committed to teaching them these important rules and the Library Media Specialist works closely with classroom teachers in each school to ensure that students understand proper netiquette (internet + etiquette).
