Progressive Dinner

FAQs

What is the Progressive Dinner? The Progressive Dinner is Old Greenwich School PTA's second largest fundraiser. Tickets to attend dinner and cocktail parties are purchased, and are tax deductible. Your contribution goes directly to students, staff and the school in the form of curriculum enrichment, teacher grants and school improvements.

When and Where? The Progressive Dinner is held in the spring. The event runs from 6:30 pm until 10:30 pm and is hosted by Old Greenwich School parents. Small group dinners are held from 6:30 pm to 8:30 pm. All-grade cocktail parties are hosted by another group of parents in their homes from 8:30-10:30 pm.

How does it work? Parents volunteer to host small group dinners in their homes. The dinners are organized by grade. Hosts and guests are paired randomly within each grade. After dinner, people “progress” by walking, biking or driving to an all-grade cocktail party also hosted by parent volunteers. Parents of 5th Grade students enjoy dinner, desert and cocktails at one location.

What if I have children in more than one grade at OGS? Parents with only one child attend a dinner and a cocktail party hosted by parents in their child’s grade. Parents with several children may request a grade preference for their small group dinner. We will try to accommodate that request if possible. After dinner, parents may choose to attend one or more cocktail parties for their children’s respective grades. For example, parents with children in K, 2nd and 4th might attend a kindergarten dinner and afterward attend both the 2nd and 4th Grade cocktail parties.

Can I attend the Cocktail Party only? Yes, however the ticket price would be the same. If one or both parents cannot attend a small group dinner, they are encouraged to join their grade at the all-class cocktail party later in the evening.

Can anyone host a Dinner or Cocktail Party? Yes! This event cannot happen without host volunteers. Co-hosting with friends is another option. The style of the dinner is completely at the discretion of the host. The all-grade cocktail parties are simply cocktails & dessert.

Do hosts get financial support? Expenses incurred by hosts are tax deductible. Guests are encouraged to bring a bottle of wine to dinner parties.

How do I RSVP and pay for my tickets? RSVP and payment info is done through your Membership Toolkit Account.

How will I know where to go? Please RSVP as soon as possible. The Progressive Dinner committee will email your dinner assignment and the address of the class cocktail parties a few days before the event.
