Principal's Message
Dear Parents and Families of Old Greenwich School,
Welcome to Old Greenwich School. It is the Mission of the Greenwich Public Schools to educate all students to the highest levels of academic achievement; to enable them to reach and expand their potential; and to prepare them to become productive, responsible, ethical, creative and compassionate members of society. At Old Greenwich School we espouse four primary values for all of our school community; Be Kind, Be Safe, Be Fair and Be Gentle.
I am honored to work with such an inclusive, high achieving and international school community. Our students at Old Greenwich arrive from countries near and far enriching our instruction and school community. As the bell rings on the first day of school, hundreds of students and families arrive on buses and gather in our Plaza to start the day together allowing for the entire Old Greenwich community of businesses and neighbors to see off their children at the start of each day. Harkening back to the first days of Old Greenwich School’s rich history over 100 years ago.
Identified as a School of Excellence from the State of Connecticut, Old Greenwich School has a long history of impressive academic achievement. Utilizing the standards established through the Greenwich Public Schools curriculum enhanced by our staff of exceptional teachers, our students are provided a rich foundational education. As a district, we’ve moved to a one-to-one model of instruction utilizing digital tools in this 21st century learning environment. These tools allow for increased personalized learning opportunities for all students. We offer a comprehensive and rigorous educational experience with studies in English/Language Arts, Mathematics, Social Studies, Spanish, Music, Physical Education, Art and Science in our school’s Science Lab. Support personnel includes teachers of English Language Learners, Literacy Specialist, Special Educators, Speech and Language Pathologists, Psychologist, Professional Assistants and both Occupational and Physical Therapists.
Abby Ostruzka and I are excited to begin a new year at Old Greenwich as the school’s leadership team. We look forward to a collaborative relationship with the parents, students and faculty of the Old Greenwich School Community. Please browse our website for more information about our school and student offerings.
We look forward to a wonderful school year at Old Greenwich School.
Best,
Dr. Jennifer Bencivengo, Principal
